I did always enjoy the style of this painting, until I experienced the emotions of the work; and the beauty of complete despair lost its romance, becoming instead a rather frightening deja vu.
I think it is too easy to fall into the trap of coming to "Eternity's Gate" time after time. It is a nice change to have your destination and transportation and least somewhat under control.
